Raheem Sterling’s multi-goal performance and Nicola Jackson’s debut lead Chelsea to a 3-0 win over Luton Town.
Chelsea defeated Luton Town 3-0 in the third round of the 2023-24 English Premier League (EPL) at Stamford Bridge in London, England at 4:00 a.m. ET on Saturday.
Chelsea started with Sanchez, Colwill, Silva, Dissahsi, Chilwell, Caicedo, Gallagher, Guisto, Enzo, Sterling, and Jackson.
Luton started Kaminski, Giles, Bell, Lockyer, Burke, Caboret, Barkley, Nakamba, Chong, Morris, and Adebayo.
Sterling was the man of the match. Sterling opened the scoring in the 17th minute when he picked up the ball on the right flank and dribbled his way into the penalty box before calmly finishing with his left foot between Luton’s tightly packed defense.
He then added his second in the 23rd minute, slotting home a Marlo Guisto cross from the right flank with his right foot.
Sterling, who has been one of Chelsea’s most in-form players in recent times, was at his best on this occasion, helping his side to their first win of the season.
Jackson, who joined the club this summer, also made an impact with his debut goal. With Chelsea 2-0 up in the 30th minute, Sterling’s cross deflected off a defender and into the back of the net, where he slotted it home for his first goal of the season. 스포츠토토
Moises Caicedo, who joined Chelsea as the Premier League’s highest transfer fee this summer, was handed his first start of the season. While he still had a few mistakes that left him wanting, he improved on his last performance by connecting with the pass that set up the second goal.
Promoted Luton lost the game, their second defeat of the season. Having conceded four goals against Brighton in the first round and three against Chelsea, they are realizing the high barriers of the Premier League.
