Lee Young-jun, who played up front at the FIFA U-20 World Cup, has been named to the A team’s reserve list. Along with the selection of his teammate Kim Jun-hong, there was another surprise for Gimcheon.

Gimcheon will host Chungbuk Cheongju FC in the 30th round of the Hana OneQ K League 2 2023 at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 2 at Gimcheon Sports Complex. Gimcheon, who are looking to extend their home winning streak to eight games, will take on Chungbuk Cheongju, who are unbeaten in 12 matches.

Cho Young-wook has been leading Gimcheon’s attack this season, backed up by U-20 World Cup standout Lee Young-joon. Young-jun will have to fill in when Cho is away at the Hangzhou Asian Games.

Speaking to Goal.com before the game, Lee said, “I always prepare because I don’t know how the situation will change. If the coach gives me a chance, I must bring results,” he said. 스포츠토토

Recently, Jürgen Klinsmann announced his squad for the A-match trials, and according to sources familiar with the Korean soccer scene, Lee was included in the preliminary list. Following Kim Jun-hong’s first call-up to the A team, another Gimcheon player has been recognized by Jürgen Klinsmann.

“I didn’t know about it, but the coach told me. Of course, I couldn’t believe it. There are some really good strikers in the K League besides me,” he said, “I think it was because of my performance at the U-20 World Cup. I don’t think it’s because I’m doing well right now,” he said with a straight face.

Lee Young-jun, who has one assist in six league games this season, will have to fill the void left by Cho Young-wook’s temporary departure to Hangzhou. “Jo Young-wook has been playing so well that the team is in first place. There will be pressure if I take over, but I want to do my best to create offensive points,” he said.

In his third year as a professional, Lee said he received a lot of help from Yang Dong-hyun and Lee Seung-woo at Suwon FC. The two experienced players gave him a lot of advice and helped him grow.

“I learned a lot from Donghyun. He taught me a lot about how to move on the field, and I regret that I didn’t get to spend more time with him. Seung-woo taught me a lot about soccer, but also about the mental side of the game, which I want to pass on to you,” he smiles.
