Major League Baseball’s Toronto Blue Jays’ Ryu Hyun-jin (36) will face a tough opponent in his first game back after a year and two months. Kyle Bradish (26, Baltimore Orioles), the eighth-best ERA in the American League as of Sept. 30, will be Ryu’s opponent.
Toronto will play a home game against Baltimore at 8:07 a.m. ET on Aug. 2 at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
For the game, Toronto will call up Ryu Hyun-jin to start. After undergoing left elbow ligament reconstruction last June, Ryu will make his big league debut after a long rehabilitation.
A long-awaited return. However, he was assigned a tough opponent. Ryu’s opponent will be Brady, who is 6-6 with a 3.29 ERA (38 earned runs in 104 innings) and has been Baltimore’s ace this season. As of the last 21 days, he has been more than up to the task with five consecutive quality starts (six or more innings and three or fewer earned runs). His ERA in that span is 1.39 (5 runs in 32.1 innings).
However, Brady’s last outing, a 6.2-inning, five-run performance against the Philadelphia Phillies on April 26, left some concerns. Still, Brady’s performance throughout the season has been nothing short of ace.
After making his big league debut last year, Brady successfully landed in 2022 with a 4-7 record and a 4.90 ERA (64 earned runs in 117.2 innings). This season, in his second year, his potential has been fully realized.
